Nike Pegasus Plus 2: Weak tier, Consider, high confidence — synthesized from 44 reviews across 18 creators, freshest review Oct 10, 2026.
TL;DR
The Nike Pegasus Plus 2 is a comfortable, well-liked daily trainer that splits opinion sharply. Fans praise the smooth ride and comfort, while detractors call it heavy, uninspiring, and overpriced at $170 (dd06719a-f040-44a9-b5c0-6fe773400564, 8802543a-cd19-4761-b64f-13123f6961bf). If you want a plush everyday shoe and are already a Pegasus loyalist, this is likely the best current version (4370d470-e6b8-4bbb-a80d-295c9efd37ce). If you want a snappy, energetic trainer or a speed shoe, skip it — the Zoom unit doesn't deliver the promised pop, and the weight works against it.

A premium, cushioned daily trainer for runners who want a more exciting, responsive version of the classic Pegasus without going full super-shoe. Best for easy miles, steady runs, and long runs at moderate paces. The expanded forefoot and roomy toe box suit runners with wider feet or higher-volume feet, and the stable, neutral platform works well for heavier runners who want predictable cushion. Not ideal for sharp uptempo workouts or speed sessions — pair it with a faster shoe for those efforts.
Facts & figures
The verdict engine computes the grade. This section explains it — it never recomputes it.
01 · The score
Built from 56 attributed opinions, weighted by creator consensus, reviewer authority, and agreement between reviewers. Recency, reach, and buzz are not score inputs. What you see here is the engine’s output, unpacked — not a second calculator. This page does not infer a score from views, recency, or the editorial stages.
Excluded from score. Freshness and attention are deliberately excluded from the score so the tier means quality, not recency or buzz. They are surfaced separately as the trending signal.
the engine returns 73 / 100 — these inputs explain the shape, they don’t produce it.
02 · The tier
The matching engine trace assigns the score to Weak at the ladder floor.
73 · here — inside the D band (Weak).
03 · The recommendation
The trace evaluates raw consensus and confidence, not the score. The real BUY_NOW condition and returned values are shown here. Price is a value note, never a gate— a strong shoe keeps its recommendation even when it isn’t on sale.
The verdict reads the RAW consensus (share of creators recommending), not the score. A shoe can therefore be tier A yet CONSIDER rather than BUY_NOW when confidence is below HIGH.

“Nike Pegasus Plus 2 Air Zoom placement”
“these are by far my personal favorite Nike Pegasus models in the last few years for sure”
“this one here which I'm really enjoying the Nike Pegasus Plus 2”
“This is the Nike Pegasus Plus 2. As a reminder, the Pegasus Plus sits right in the middle of the Pegasus family lineup. It's more for responsive cushioning. The big change this year is we now have a curved air zoom unit directly underneath the forefoot, which is supposed to make it a little bit more responsive. The rest of the midsole is going to be Zoom X foam, Nike's racing material, similar to we see on the Alphal and Vaporfly. Of course, the upper has also been redesigned. You can see the mid-foot containment band poking through, which is supposed to provide a better lock down. This was the old version, no contoured air zoom unit. It weighed roughly 8.6 oz and had 35 mm in the heel with a 10 mm drop. The new version is actually heavier. It comes in at 9.3 oz, but does get three more millimeters of stack height with 38 mm in the heel and still that relatively high 10 mm drop. I do think the shoe looks pretty cool. It comes in at $170”
“what's in the new Pegasus Plus 2”
“I think Nike might move away from that with the Pegasus Plus 2, which is hopefully coming soon. The air unit will certainly even things out in the forefoot there.”
“this has got to be the least excited I've ever been for a shoe leak”
“I ended up with the Nike Pegasus plus 2 and I've been working them into my training leading up to Chicago. They feel super comfortable, responsive, and have been such a great addition to my runs.”
“I was talking about the Pegasus Plus 2 earlier, and this shoe has a tiny heel bevel and a 10 millimeter drop. So even though I want to land here, when I do land here, I feel a lot of contact with my rear foot in the ground. And that feels uncomfortable to me and that makes the shoe feel clunky.”
“I think a competitor is also the Nike Pegasus Plus 2. Even though this is a $170 shoe, it is quite a bit more expensive and it's heavier”
“we have the Pegasus Plus 2. Looks ugly. Moving on.”
“And one of the shoes I'm training in this time around is the Nike Pegasus Plus 2”
“Next up from the swoosh, we have the Pegasus Plus 2. ... You can't make fake Zoom X and make it like almost 300 g, and put a 10-mm drop in a shoe, and just slap an Air Pod in there ... That's lazy design work. It's an ugly shoe, and it's outdated”
“I showed you earlier the Pegasus Plus 2, they've got that at the front and they're and they're showing it off”
“very similar to when we came out here with the Pegasus Plus yesterday, Pegasus Plus 2, very nice ride. It's smooth, it's protective, it feels great underfoot.”
“This morning I am running in the new Nike Pegasus Plus 2.”
“I know the Pegasus Plus 2 has just been released. That one intrigued me a bit because of the Pegasus Plus was probably the only Nike shoe that I've tested over the last two or three years that I actually really rated. And so I am a little bit curious about that, but again hesitant to pay the price that it's listed for”
“The Structure Plus, the Pegasus 42, and the Pegasus Plus 2. All of which I've reviewed on this channel.”
“So, my recommendation for this would be true to size and really that's the way to go with this one.”
“Video title: Nike Pegasus Plus 2 FIRST RUN REVIEW | My NEW Favorites??”
“I think it's a nice all round sort of general daily shoe that ticks a lot of boxes. It works fine for easy runs. It works fine for running faster in it, but it isn't excelling either of those areas.”
“I think it has moved in the right direction from the Pegasus Plus in becoming a bit softer, stringier, and a little bit more fun to do your daily training in without really adding a lot of weight.”
“I'm a huge, huge fan of the shoe... I would definitely recommend this shoe.”
“The Nike Pegasus Plus 2 is here and it's had quite the overhaul.”
“In this video, we are reviewing the Nike Pegasus Plus 2.”
“Now, we have the new Pegasus Plus 2, which I think is a completely overhaul of what the Pegasus Plus was. And again, more of like a Peg Turbo, which they even kept that kind of lineage on the outsole of the shoe here.”
“I like what they've done here. I love this resilient ZoomX that they've got in this shoe. I like the lock down. I like the comfort. I like the outsole. I'm not too bothered about the Air Zoom unit, but I can say hand on heart that I like the ride and I like the versatility of the shoe. It does everything that I would want from a daily trainer very well. I don't think it's over the top in terms of price”
“Just a bit of a flawed upper here in the Pegasus Plus 2. I mean, it's comfortable enough, but there's lots of Nike shoes where I've said that, you know, it's like okay. It's just not stand out.”
“The Nike Pegasus Plus versus Everybody”
“The Pegasus Plus 2 is 263 grams or 9.3 ounces in a UK 9”
“I think it's a good option. I do. I think it's good. Do I think it knocked my socks off? No. I just kind of wish that maybe I was getting more from the Zoom unit at like a slightly slower speed.”
“I would say that initially I said it was very very firm. It's it's more of the soft yet supportive type underfoot feel. Um, I do think it's softer than the than the Plus One, right? The Pegasus Plus One was fairly firm overall. I actually kind of liked it. I felt like it felt like a traditional racing flat. This is going to be a little bit softer, a little bit more plush in comparison. Um, and it is lighter overall, which to me was kind of surprising. It didn't like it doesn't feel crazy nimble. Um, doesn't feel bad by any means, but it just really didn't kind of check the speed box that I was looking for. Um, really though from like a daily training perspective, works out well.”
“very good long run shoe. Yes, the Sonic Blast 2's got a bit more bounce to it, less weight, and perhaps better lock down. I think to improve the shoe, Nike could have one, put a better insole in there, but also remove the lasting material that's on top of the midsole foam. Perhaps if you had like an ATPU insole in there, it could really come to life. That soft cell spongy stuff really doesn't do the midsole justice. Quite a stable shoe, I have to say. Doesn't really feel sort of wobbly in any way. So, yeah, much better performance in terms of the midsole. I'll give it a 2.6 out of three for the midsole. Outsole wise, it's actually quite a bit of depth to the rubber here. It does seem to be the same material that we have on the Pegasus 42. 3.5 mil of depth. I mean, for a shoe that's supposedly for some more speedy work, that's quite a lot of rubber. I do like though the extended rubber back into the heel here on both sides. I think we'll get some really good perceived longevity, durability out of this one. Perhaps they could have reduced that a little bit more and dropped the shoe a little bit under 300 g. Grip is really good on roads and pavements, which is where you'll be running most of your miles in the Pegasus Plus 2. Don't really feel that it's suited to sort of like gravel or trails or anything like that. It's very much a road option this one. We do have a little bit of exposed midsole here though. Again, there's a thick paint layer on there, so hopefully that'll give a little bit of protection to that phone. Rubber durometer score comes in exactly as per the Pegasus 42. There's a few small areas where debris can get caught up here, but nothing that can't be removed with your medium bristle brush perhaps. There's nice grip and grab as well on toe off here noted. So, enjoying that. So, a much better area of the shoe. Again, for a speed option, is the depth too much here? Perhaps in the wet conditions, it will come to life a little bit as a more usable option. Again, could they have reduced the materials a little bit? Got the shoe in just a little bit lighter. Still liking the outsole though. Very impressive so far. Nice sticky kind of feel to it. I'll give it a 2.7 out of three so far. Value-wise, again, this one set me back 155 notes. It's a little bit cheaper than the Sonic Blast 2, has to be said, but I don't really feel these two shoes are all that close. Perhaps bit more suited to a comparison against something like the DV8 Pure from Puma. Similar midsole setups by that air unit. But again, the Puma is strikingly lower in weight over the Nike shoe. Build's decent actually. I have to say it's one of the better Nike shoes straight out the box. There's no dodgy stitching or glue marks. I can't say the same for the AliOS Pro 5 that I've received, but I'll review that shoe soon. So, I don't really feel this one's going to be the most versatile in your shoe arsenal, but it's doing some stuff that means I'm going to probably use it an awful lot. I kind of stick to that 8020 rule, doing lots of running at a sort of sustainable pace, and the shoe really seems to like that. If you're doing marathon pace as well, it really seems to hit the spot. So yeah, there's lighter options out there. This one's got a bit of character about it though, and I kind of like that. Did feel good as well. I started to turn up the pace. Just wish the upper was better. That is the real downer on this shoe. I'll give it a 2.5 out of [09:40] three for value. I think it's set at a pretty decent price. Just wish the upper was better. So, a great midsole and outsole. Kind of spoiled by that upper design. It's just really strange. What were they thinking? If I've total the scores up correctly, that gives us 9.8 8 out of 12 for the Nike Pegasus Plus 2.”
“I really really like it and I think Nike did a great job with this”
“Nikes NEWEST Daily Trainer is here. Lace up the Nike Pegasus Plus 2 with us.”
“The Pegasus Plus 2 is here, but what has changed between the 1 and the 2, and is it worth the upgrade? Let's break it down.”
“The swoosh also have the Pegasus Plus 2 launching today on the 17th. The model retains the 10 mil drop as favored in the Pegasus range. uses the same last as the Pegasus 42, which felt to me like it was the same as the ones that came before it. Full ZoomX now across the midsole and an air unit up front, similar to that featured in the Pegasus premium model.”
“the Pegasus Plus 2 actually, which I'm really enjoying so far. I know that some people got a bit of a negative view on them, but they're doing the business for me.”
“I did nip over to the Nike store and pick up a pair of the Pegasus Plus 2. We'll have a review for you on these very soon on the channel”
“The Nike Pegasus Plus just got a serious upgrade, and we've already had our team putting some miles into this one. Under foot, you still got that lightweight, responsive ZoomX foam, but now Nike has added an exposed Air Zoom unit through the forefoot. Together, Nike calls this its Air Zoom engine, delivering at least 18% more energy return than the previous Pegasus Plus, and it does all of that without a plate. From our testing, that gives the Plus 2 a really energetic feel under foot, but without feeling overly stiff or aggressive. There's enough flexibility in there to make it feel comfortable when you're not pushing the pace. So, where does it fit into your running? For us, this feels like a faster daily trainer. We found it comfortable enough for everyday mileage, but it's when you start increasing the pace that the ZoomX and Air Zoom combination really starts to make sense. The new shape also gives you a little more room through the forefoot, while the mid-foot containment system helps to keep your foot secure as the pace increases. Up top, the lightweight mesh keeps things breathable and stripped back with an updated waffle outsole underneath for grip and flexibility. So, if you want one shoe that can cover most of your weekly training, but still feels quick when it's time for a faster session, the Nike Peg Plus 2 could be a really versatile option. And it's available now at ProDirect Running.”
“I also do have the Nike Pegasus Plus 2's full review coming out soon”
“Oh, the Peg Plus 2 is a it's a great shoe. That shoe weighs as much as the shoe that I'm wearing right now. Oh, my feet. It falls into the max cushion or not max cushion but the the comfort daily trainer and it's supposed to be a speed day shoe and it's got airpods in it.”
“Very runnable. Now, it is a little bit It looks kind of like the Pegasus Premium. So, that's the other thing. It's like they smashed together the standard Pegasus and the Pegasus Premium and put it for $170.”
“I was expecting that fun, that pop, sort of that excitement that you get from the race day having the Air Zoom in the forefoot. And while I could feel it and it gives you that sense that you are towing off of something, which is nice, it kind of almost remind me of that old Newton feeling ... but it doesn't have that energy return that I was kind of hoping that it would have like a real lift off the toe. So, it's sort of missing a little bit of the excitement I was hoping for.”
“Guys, it's the new Nike Pegasus Plus 2.”
“We cut the Nike Pegasus Plus 2 in half to see what they look like frok the inside 👀”
“It's like the Pegasus Plus 2. It's a good shoe, but you're going to go and buy something else.”
“Reviews of Vanish Carbon 2, Corsa, Stinson 8, Pegasus Plus 2 + More”
“I saw you want to review the Nike Pegasus Plus 2 today and that retails at 170.”
